Book Archive

These book covers speak to me. See that personification I used, books cannot speak. Sometimes graphic design does that to you. You question what is reality and was is fake. This is enticing to the mind and lets you appreciate the beauty whether it is fake or not. When you live in the moment you succumb to great things, so it does not even matter if its real or not. In these covers we see portraits of ones face that inspire us to feel a certain way or emotion (look at that little girl :'( ). The Wall Street book had a fascinating cover for it was a genius spectacle that the daily New Yorker is available to daily. The Great Brain Suck confuses you with hypnotism. The other cover is like a venn diagram with it ensuing that there is a similarity somewhere.

  1. Arvid, I'm glad the book covers are making you question broader ideas about design but I'm also wondering what you are taking about? Which book makes you question reality? Which book feels fake?

Also make sure you answer the prompts:
Do you see the design concepts and components like Typography, Images/Graphics, Proximity, Alignment within the work?
Think about why you were drawn to this book cover. What made you take a closer look?
With the 5 you chose, what are some common characteristics between them? What are the differences?

  2. I also chose the Mandela biography and the Wall Street book cover but I wonder if you can explain how the designer design enable you to feel like it speaks to you? What makes these covers different from the rest?
